Fair hearing is the basic way to guarantee a just outcome in both Civil and Criminal Cases under a due process. This book critically examines the problems involved in the application of Fair Hearing rules in the Anglophone Courts of Cameroon and objectively reviews the manner in which cases are heard and determined with emphasis on its importance. In doing so, the research adopts a qualitative approach and answers questions in relation to trial rights violations. Such violations castigate the credibility of the legal System of Cameroon and the judiciary, since fair hearing rules are enshrined in the Constitution, subsidiary legislation and internationally ratified conventions by Cameroon. The answers to questions raised lie in the fact that the state monopolizes especially Criminal Prosecutions with the use of force without specifically ensuring equality of arms. This attitude has adversely affected the independence of the judiciary and the Constitutional Principle of Separation of Powers and has also compromised the proper application of fair hearing rules at many instances to the extent that most trials do not safeguard basic Human Rights and dignity.
