Globally, the number older persons living with HIV/AIDS is increasing and Sub Sahara Africa (SSA) has 60% of all older persons with HIV. SSA countries have showed evidently as having aggressively responded to curbing the epidemic through a number of interventions. The older persons are among the vulnerable and marginalized group of people that need to be targeted with those interventions but have been ignored by my SSA countries. This was a critical literature review study which used secondary data from databases like Delphis, PubMed and Science Direct; search engines like Google Scholar and Wiley Blackwell; and websites. Appropriate literature was selected using the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Some of the journals accessed included, journal of cross –cultural Gerontology, AIDS, African Journal of AIDS Research, AIDS care, among others. A conceptual framework showing the different dimensions of accessing HIV services was adopted and customised from Obrist et al (2007). The dimensions include availability, affordability, accessibility, adequacy and acceptability.
